[livejournal.com profile] wikiberry reminded me this morning that I was going to talk about this season's telly viewing in our house. I used to hate hourlong shows so they had to be quite special to get my attention. Now with TiVo (DVR making it possibly for me to fast forward through commercials and watch programs at my convenience) I find I can give more shows a chance.

Well, I've dropped several shows. None of the incarnations of Law & Order are doing much for me this year and ER has sort of been a once in a while thing (depending on if I saw a commercial and the commercial interested. Not often)

However, I've picked up House:
Very funny, awesom sarcasm, good cast, and even though every episode has a similar formula, I find myself watching because of the interesting rare disease stuff they talk about.

And Numb3rs:
I have a secret appreciation for mathematics, but don't let the math scare you! It's a clever, intense problem-solving show with a new angle. It's quite enjoyable. Though I haven't been fond of Rob Morrow since Northern Exposure and I thought that other guy has been kind of... odd... in previous roles, the two of them together with the writing in this show is superb.

Also, Medium:
I'm undecided. My sister recommended it. I rarely take recs from her, but I do love those Arquette sisters. Patricia is great, but I've only seen two episodes and only one I thought was great. The other was so-so.

Then, of course, there is the renewal of The L Word:
OMG! Better than last season! Only one storyline doesn't have me bouncing in my seat and it revolves around the same character that bothered me last season. Jenny. I just don't like her - though I used to love the actress.

I also watch Judging Amy, most of the time:
They have some great speeches, you know. Besides, Bruce is... yummy. I wish David would die off though.

OH, and I almost forgot Battlestar Galactica:
I am sort of obligated to watch this. My hubby is into it and I'm recording every episode for my sister who loved the original, but wasn't fond of the movie. I don't think she'll like the series much either, but I'm still taping. I don't know. I'm enjoying it, but it's not one of the other shows mentioned where I'm anxious from week to week. I do, admittedly, enjoy Baltar. His descent into madness is hilarious... probably moreso than intended...
It is, though, getting a little annoying that they so carefully script men and women together, isn't it? Never an unnoticed wink between two guys or a special look for the slashers to feed off. I've seen a couple, don't get me wrong, but the male/female dynamic is almost obnoxious. They're trying too hard. Why can't they all be more like Joss Whedon who admitted that he liked to drop things just for the slashers? I gotta admire that.
