An Unremarkable Evening...
May. 13th, 2007 09:25 amSo I was thinking of things to post and I completely forgot that we went out on Friday night. Took hubby's sister to a bar on "the other side" of downtown to see this band. Two members are hubby's employees and have been asking him to come for months and months.
Well, I'll begin with a compliment. Those two guys really are as talented as hubby was told they were (electric and bass guitars)
However, the singer/creator of the band was an egotistical jerk. Mid-set he went off talking about nothing for at least five minutes. The only thing it accomplished was to make him sound really stupid (and it did that far too well).
The employees pointed out that we could only stay for a little bit and he wanted to see Dave (a third employee) sing, but Ricky (lead) only lets Dave sing in the last set. Hubby, Dave, and the two other employees requested they play just one song from the end of the set. Ricky refused. Then, apparently, after we left Ricky's parents came so he rearranged the entire set to accomodate them.
Additionally... I'm not sure it's legal for a bar to be that barren on a Friday night. The bar in tiny little Cedar City was more packed on a Tuesday afternoon! Including bartenders, there were fewer than 30 people... and this is late after the other bars and clubs are usually hoppin'!
Gotta wonder, since that band is a standing gig, if that has anything to do with it? hmmm.
But, good news is Cookie and Preston (the other two) have already found another band. They were only there on Friday as a last favour to Ricky. I thought they were far too talented to be stuck with that slimeball.
