Jan. 18th, 2009 01:34 pmWe went up to the zoo yesterday. I wanted pictures of the bats, but they got rid of the big ones and the little ones are in this cave-like thing where you can't get a picture worth discussing. I also tried to get pictures of the young Colobus Monkey, but he was HYPER and all I got were blurs. He was cute as could be, though.
One struck me which I put at the bottom of the picture montage.
BAT! They are one of my favorites at the zoo. They are so cute and we got there at feeding time so several were just flying around like mad hatters!

It's really hard to see, but if you look in the corner of the cave (I brightened the picture in hopes of making it better) you can see the bats all clumped together, hanging, napping. Yes, those are their heads and wings you can just barely make out! It's fascinating!

See little one hanging by the tail? So cute!

He saw me lift the camera, jumped to that branch, posed, then left after I'd taken it. Hmm!

Golden tamarins. I've only recently grown to like these little guys. Never really noticed them until about a year ago. Now I think they are just cute and sweet looking.

He just waited, watching until I took his picture, then he looked away. Guess he got what he wanted. {smirk}

This giraffe was simply not feeling very sociable yesterday!

Have you ever wondered what the bottom side of a giraffe's tongue looks like?

Apparently, it was naptime for the big cats:

The cougar was totally captured by Toria. He watched her every move...

He had this look that said "Are you looking at me? ARE YOU LOOKIN' AT ME!?"

The black bear also looked at me just long enough to get a photo. He's gorgeous, but I still miss the Polar bears

Red Panda's are just adorable. They're another fave at the zoo.

And last, but not least, we are sort of wondering if perhaps we should have named Koomer something more appropriate - like Lynx?
