I had actually been thinking #6 could be Dad. The thing is, that's not happening to me. It's Dad's struggle, secondarily Mom's. The rest of us can only say that we have to deal with it in a less direct way than those two.
Okay, I haven't done a good update on that here in months. It took me a few days to cry and a few more to accept it, but it's terminal. He's weak, he's barely fighting, he's... going. If you ask me about him I'll say he's... okay or maybe kinda fine, but the truth is when he does get out of bed, he's not himself and he's fallen and injured himself more than once. So, there you go.
So then I was thinking this was #6. This morning Scott woke in excrutiating pain and constant vomiting. We got in to his doctor who said maybe appendicitis. OMG, surgery!? So we went to the hospital for a CT. Just a kidney stone. Okay, not JUST a kidney stone. Anyone who has had one or known someone who has had one will tell you about the tears of pain and inability to move. I've never had one, but I've heard these tales more than once. That's where he is. Still, curable and they'll prescribe pain meds so I'm not sure I'd put it on the bad scale just yet. Of course, everythign pales in comparison to a fire - which turned out to be a little more traumatic than I realized.
