Life on the thrill ride...
Apr. 9th, 2007 10:44 amJust over a week ago before my "sad" post...
Went to a club downtown with bro and J- to see J's friend's band. First band, pretty good. J's friend's band, also good. Third band derivative and lacking talent. Fourth band sucked monkey ass. Plus, it was swinger's night so... interesting.
Tuesday, of course, I posted thrill of winning tickets to Cowboy Mouth. I'll get to that in a second.
Wednesday we went to the local Aviary. WOW! It is so much better than when we were kids and they took us on field trips!! They've got more birds, better habitats... I used up all the film I had with me before I finished the rounds. Oh well! Hubby talked me into another membership pass so we can return repeatedly (as is true of the aquarium... and then there's the zoo pass, but it's about to expire...)
Thursday, boring stuff, driving around, kid's karate had been rescheduled to that day... then Cowboy MOUTH! They play bluegrass rock. Good, old fashioned rock & roll. Look, even if you don't like them, if they come to your town you should see them. I've been to many many shows, concerts, etc and no one, NO ONE, get the energy out of the audience like Fred! THE BEST performer I've seen...
Friday, early, Toria's b-day party. First off, going to a concert where I scream my voice away, clap a few layers of the skin off, and headbang my neck stiff is bad enough. Getting drunk, so druuuuuuuuunk and having screaming 5 year olds the next morning was, well, exhausting. I cannot believe how many kids didn't come, though. We had it at a place called Jungle Jim's... Quick description: about half a dozen rides (carousels, mini roller coasters, bumper cars) designed just for kids under 10, games galore, cake, pizza... I mean, it was all worth it for her happiness, but I was sad when yesterday she said "only four kids came"... I just said 'the rest missed out', but that poor kid! And who wouldn't want to drop off their 5 year old for 2 hours!?
Anyway...Friday afternoon, more stuff done, but boring so I won't go into it. Same Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon Scott got off work early to take me to this garden/arboretum near the University. They were having an orchid show. The gardens were gorgeous, too, but those orchids! EEEE! Again, tons of pics. I'm going to post a few good ones when I get them developed (remembering why I want a digital camera again...hehe)
Sunday there was a brunch for my sister's 3 week old baby and some Easter activities at the in-laws. Kept me busy. I had to make a casserole for the brunch and drive back and forth all day, but...
Today?
Nothing. Toria doesn't even have school. The extent of my commitment is taking her on Mommy Monday (Hubby has work, then school, so she doesn't get to see him at all. Therefore I invented MM as our day when no matter what, we go out to eat and play together.) Still, the rest of the day is mine. Mine! MINE, I tell you! BWA HAHA...
Then there's tomorrow - rest of b-day shopping, Toria's b-day Wednesday... wheeeeeeee
