For the sake of posting something

At parent/teacher conference last week, Victoria's teacher returned the postcards from the beginning of the year. Who else forgot about them? {raises hand} Anyway, I really want to thank you guys for participating! Between the gingerbread man swimsuits and the alpacas... ha ha, I'm glad my friends are creative writers even on the back of a tiny postcard!!

Teacher said V- was on the verge of reading. The thing that struck me about that is that she's been reading to me without assistance for about 6 weeks! So, wtf is going on at school that she's not being put in the early reader category!? She also gave me a chart detailing (with images) the stages of writing. She put V- in one when I have clearly seen her do the next level at home. Again, wtf?

Then she pointed out that V- doesn't always finish her work before visiting. This has been a problem. Well, I talked to her about it and she's going to do better. I am reluctant to say "she's bored" because that's what tons of people say about their kids to make them sound smart - and not all of the kids they say that about ARE smart - but something is obviously going on...

larue916, who is in cosmetology school, cut V's hair on Friday. I mean, cut it off. It's adorable!! I was completely out of film for my camera (yes, I am starting to see the value of a digital camera!) but I got some today so pics soon.

So, now you know I'm still alive.
oh, and writing. Between last April and November I got about 30 pages into my new book. Since I stopped babysitting in February and today I've hit 99. So, now you know what I've really been up to. {wink}
