Let me begin by pointing out that my sister and I took about 300 pictures combined. It was very difficult to narrow it down...

West of The Great Salt Lake are the salt flats. Miles upon miles of flatter than a pancake earth with a layer of salt (good for racing as it's self-healing...) You're out in the middle of nowhere and then you see something on the horizon. It gets closer and you can't figure out what it is. Hell, we drove right past it and I'm still not sure what it is.

Then you drive through some mountains and into desert. No matter what spin you put on it, there isn't much to see. Wait!! Did that say Death Star Valley!?!? We also passed a sign in Nevada that read "Beverly Hills" and the arrow pointed to a freeway exit. You see nothing at all except some old run-down farm house... I guess someone had a sense of humor.

As I mentioned last post, we stayed in Tiburon. We actually stayed with my sister's husband's parents - which was not nearly as weird as I thought it would be! This... thing... was in downtown Tiburon (which means "shark")

It's just cool...

After you pass through a tunnel, you see this view of San Francisco from the Tiburon side of the bridge. I liked the photo because as you can see, Tiburon is definitely a break from San Fran. It's lovely, lush, and green.

Next you cross Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco.

This is passing under a support on the bridge

For all those who have seen Eddie Izzard's HBO special "Dress To Kill", say it with me ALLLCATRAZZZZ... (No, we didn't go there...)

A selection of rowhouses. Between us there were a couple dozen pics of these.

More. I said I had a tough time narrowing it down!

I mean, wouldn't these make cool collectible dollhouses!?

Now we're inside Mission Dolores. They had the stain glass windows and the lights out so everything inside glowed in the reds and blues.

Mission Tower. Though some views make it look like the tower from Vertigo, the filming was actually done from the exterior front without towers and in the cemetary.

Another view of the towers.

A fountain just outside the cemetary

This was in the cemetary but I really want to point out this and the next... Toria bragging, but look at her. She just owns the camera and commands your attention, doesn't she? I don't think it's just her looks; I think there's something about her that just draws people in.

Yes, our family, but again, look at her as though she's walking a windy runway!

Those of you with cats will recognize this as the stretch out cat-pose, right?

How cute!

Leaving Pier 39 I noticed this odd crab statue with growth. Hard to see, I know.

On the way into Sonoma you pass this, erm, blue tree! It's a tree that died and instead of cutting it down, someone glued thousands of blue lightbulbs to it (it does not light up at night, I've been told).

Road and vineyard into Sonoma Valley

The houses built for those who run the vineyards are very interesting.

Chinatown (taken by my sister)

Another by her

Weird thing. These are theaters next to the Winchester Mansion. Is it just me or do they look like boobs?

You'll see a seam down the left where I put two pictures together - didn't quite line up. This is the side view of the Winchester Mansion

Looking out from a balcony.

I'm not sure this will really work, but look at all the odd, unfinished things in this bit of the Mansion...

Now we're at the ocean

How would it be to live in one of these houses looking out onto the water?

Toria playing at the beach, obviously.

A big horse statue for kids to play on. Every town should have one...
