Then there's the paper snowflake thing.
Snow
I know. I know! You think I'm completely mad because the world really doesn't work like this, but I've got 7 years of "coincidence" under my belt now. It's truly bizarre.
For 7 years, I cut out paper snowflakes and stick them to the windows of wherever I'm living. I'm not sure I have to make new ones every year for this to work because I've never tried saving them. I go through this ritual - it's actually cleansing, fun, like taking a hot bath on a stressful day - of cutting them out. After that, I stick them to the window and within 7 days, guaranteed (it usually takes all 7) We get the first snowfall of the year that (and this is the important disclaimer) sticks to the ground until noon the next day. I'm not talking about those tiny snowfalls that melt as soon as the sun hits it. Granted it's not noon now, but the sun is beating down on my back lawn and the snow is still there.
Kami lives here so she can attest that it's been the first real snowfall this year, right?
I've done this trick in October, November, whenever the inspiration hits and every year it has worked. This year I even waited until mid December! Interesting that this year, all predictions of snow fell sadly short of expectations until the snow that's been falling over the last couple of days... beginning 5 days after my snowflakes went up.
So if it's not some bizarre connection with the Snow Gods, you tell me what it is...
