Friday
Driving down was... an adventure. I did hit a bit of snow, but the roads weren't bad. Still, out of caution you find yourself tensing up a bit. By the time I arrived I was a bit stiff.

Checked into Golden Nugget. As per some advice we got from former Vegas residents, we stayed downtown and drove to the strip daily. This is advice I would pass on to others, methinks. The Golden Nugget was really nice and without the parking horrors (or traffic) of the strip.

That evening, we checked out the Fremont Street Experience and I did some initial shopping for later comparison along the street.

Saturday
We ate at Sam's Town Firelight Buffet. It's south of the strip and out of the touristy parts of town. It was a neat hotel and the buffet was delicious! Even at 2 in the afternoon they had breakfast foods, mexican selections, chinese selections... such a variety and YUMMY!! Let's just say we didn't eat again until Sunday morning.

That night we saw Le Reve at the Wynn. Described as a collection of imperfect dreams, I just couldn't get over how beautiful it was! They performed in, on, and above a huge pool of water. At first I would describe it as an Esther Williams movie choreographed by Salvador Dali, but that turned out to be insufficient so: Imagine a young trapeze artist struggling with a new routine. She's told if she doesn't shape up, she'll be demoted to clown. She goes home only to have a fight with her boyfriend. She eats a spicy sausage and falls asleep to Turner Classic Movies.

After the show, we toured The Venetian though the shops and gondolas had closed down for the evening. I still got enough of a feel for it to be pleased.

Sunday
We drove around town and stopped at the Stratosphere. We didn't ride up because I just didn't want to spend the money... I don't think either of us did. Instead we shopped around. The prices were more until we hit a little shop with tacky Vegas memorabilia so I bought several things, of course.

That night we saw Zumanity (at NYNY), a sensual, adult-oriented Cirque Du Soleil show. It was awesome, but as predicted by someone, the first show you see will be your favourite. While Reve wasn't actually Cirque, it was Cirque-like and was choreographed by a Cirque choreographer. Anyway, I can't shake it. I did like Zumanity a lot, but somehow Reve just sat a bit higher in my mind. Zumanity covered about every fetish you could imagine: schoolgirl, bondage... I could go on and on! Each one looked very beautiful, too. Well, except the funny bits which weren't about beauty, but were a good laugh!

After the show we walked up to Bellagio, but we missed the fountains. Still, seeing the HUGE pond (lake!) was amazing to me. We crossed to The Paris and walked down to MGM Grand. In between we saw a lot even though it's just a short stretch of the strip. It was awesome. I loved it anyway.

We pretty much crashed back at the hotel and on Monday it was mostly getting up and going, but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I loved getting to know T- more (even though I talked WAY too much! ha ha) as well as seeing what we did. It was incredible.

I drove into SLC just in time to catch hubby's family opening gifts. On the way home, hubby called and told me that instead of doing it in the morning they had decided to do it in the evening this year so I just made it.

The short version is it was the best weekend EVER!
