snoweeAm I too critical if I'm sitting here writing and thinking that on Little Bill, which daughter is watching, that they are doing it wrong?
They're letting Little Bill try playing a sax and the instruction they give him is actually the hard way to play an instrument. Then I think back on The Cosby Show and see it as a Bill Cosby problem because in one episode, his dad plays trombone and he puffs out his cheeks. (He is so obviously not playing the instrument anyway). Now I know Dizzy Gillespie plays that way, but actually in the music world you're to learn by using your diaphragm to push air into it, not your lungs and if you use your lungs it puffs out your cheeks. Notice if you see a professional band, they are not puffing their cheeks out? that's because it's really the wrong way to play.
And I find myself really bothered by the fact that it's wrong on Little Bill...
Of course, for no apparent reason I find myself impressed if on a movie or show it appears that the actor really is playing the instrument because it's a lot more rare than you might realize.
