All of [livejournal.com profile] jodie_mouse's talk about the destruction of Tricorn inspired me to get pictures of some local spots before they get torn down. Well, Saltair isn't in danger of being torn down, but it has burned down twice historically and is quite a dead spot these days. Like the subject of her blog, they used to have concerts here. I wish they still did. It had great acoustics and a beautiful view, but it doesn't seat enough for them to make big bucks so, of course, they jam people into the big arena's with horrid sound and enough security to stop most mosh pits. The bastards...
If I were rich, I'd buy Saltair and make it into a dance club...

The original Saltair opened in 1893.

In 1925 it burned down the first time. After being rebuilt, it had a few fires, but didn't burn down again completely. In case you're wondering why this is worthy of pointing out, you should consider that throughout the years it has also flooded many many times. It is just a few yards (meters) from the average shoreline of The Great Salt Lake, but now that lake has been slowly receding to being barely visible from Saltair.

Additionally, how cute is Toria in her new dress?
