May. 24th, 2004 08:03 pmI'm not sure why I felt the necessity of doing this, but I'm going to.
I noted someone I hadn't seen before (
helvissa) commenting on
jodie_mouse's journal a couple of times so I went to check her out. Then I found amusing morons and had to share:
"for your information i am a published poet myself
i have studied english at oxford university, so, believe me, i know about poetry
and yours, my dear, is not poetry"
posted anonymously (most of you know my feelings about THIS cowardly behaviour!). When Mr Anonymous was challenged by other published poets and the idea that Oxford was found, in this person's opinion, to be pretentious, the same anonymous poster responded:
"i'm not pathetic enough to post my work on the internet for all and sundry to peruse..." PRETENTIOUS? not at all "...[Oxford] is replete with opinionated little depressives who think they can write poetry."
To sum up, 'I'm a good poet because I go to Oxford. People from Oxford only THINK they are good poets. In actuality, they are not.' Am I the only one who read that?
The 'I'm better than you because...' game makes me truly ill.
