I swiped this survey because it touched on a subject or two I planned to mention anyway.

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Sat in a courtroom and watched the proceedings.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I never make resolutions. Don't know why... I am thinking after last question that I need to resolve to do something worthy of mentioning next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A few people know that a good friend (Mike) of mine died in 2001. We were surprised and saddened. I miss him tons - he was a very special person. Well, his widow was inseminated during the year and just yesterday she gave birth to Ian Michael. He's the cutest little thing! Black hair all over his head and pretty damned special parents, let me tell you.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No.

5. What countries did you visit? None. :(

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
Knowledge. More knowledge.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
9 January... date Toria's adoption was finalized.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finished writing a book that I'm happy with.

9. What was your biggest failure?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My tattoo...

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Gayle's. It's been tough for her and I know a lot of people think this whole thing of having her dead husband's baby is a bad thing, but in my heart, I know it's beautiful.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Don't get me started. Person mentioned in a recent post.

14. Where did most of your money go?
rent, utilities... oh fun stuff? CDs, DVDs, and my tat

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Gayle's baby, sister's wedding, being Toria's mom.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2003?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier
ii. thinner or fatter? hmm, same-ish
iii. richer or poorer? richer in many ways other than monetary.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spent time with other friends. Should have written them or called them more.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
being angry

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With family. Toria finally understands opening gifts which is fun.

21. Did you fall in love in 2003?
Yes, at least twice. It's funny how you can get married and still fall in love with the person again... and also out of love at times.

22. How many one-night stands?
Oh look. I see turtles!

23. What were your favourite TV programs?
I still love DS and QaF, but I haven't been watching much TV lately.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes.

25. What were the best books you read?
Glamorama, Blood Kin... probably. Read several good books, but those 2 stood out.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Capitol K

27. What did you want and get?
stuff. and things.

28. What did you want and not get?

Hmm, Kill Bill, followed closely by Michelle Rodriguez in SWAT

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Big party, turned 28.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
travel. I wish I'd had more opportunity to travel.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
I have started dressing a little more like a girl...

33. What kept you sane?
writing and friends

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
More turtles! And they're flying!

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I got pretty riled about the whole gay marriage thing, but I have my opinions on the war thing and the education thing as well.

36. Who did you miss?
Still miss Mike sometimes and Page since she moved in Sept.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
[livejournal.com profile] anythingoes in the flesh. I also would say I "met" sis-in-law Jen because it was this year I really got to know her and even if things are a bit tense right now, she has done a lot of good for me.

38. Did you enjoy this year?
Mostly. Since I try not to reflect on the bad, I sort of lose track of the good and live life in the now, meaning I hardly remember this year as being enjoyable or not.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003?
The best fic comes from the worst experiences... (I wouldn't say that's necessarily new, but definitely a true statement).

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year
Don't ask for the world on a plate 'cause you just might get it.

For Christmas, hubby gave me a set of new Sharpies - with the new colours and a huge pack of gel pens (office supplies WOOHOO!) plus new Living Dead Doll minis and a set of dracula shot glasses. Very cool stuff. I made him some flame pants and preordered some books and DVDs I know he wants - so he didn't have a lot to open, but he'll be receiving Christmas gifts into January...
