Jun. 17th, 2009 09:17 amAllergies. So, I have the strangest reaction. When the cottonwood trees are in bloom, I get sleepy - like Dorothy on poppies. I've fallen asleep in mid afternoon when I sit for just a few minutes after morning chores. I fell asleep while watching TV with hubby last night at 8 o'clock. I feel tired right now and I've only bee up an hour! It's bizarre, but it also seems like it gets worse every year. Previously I would just feel the need for a nap or have dry, droopy eyes. This year...well, I'm Dorothy Gale.
Did some major house cleaning. Sisters and I put together a garage sale of the useable items. I made a few bucks which was very nice and got a lot out of my house.
Then there's the Boat of our Misfortune. My brother got this boat for free because it was a complete disaster. He intended to fix it up, but in order to have the money to do it, he had to work more hours. Of course when he worked more hours, he didn't have the time. This summer he finally gave up and said if we could get rid of it at the sale, please do. If not he was going to list it on a free classifieds site. I told him I'd take care of it because this is the brother who comes and fixes our swamp cooler amongst other handyman tasks when we need him. Well, two weeks ago, we had a sale at my sister's house where the boat was being stored. I took a number of people back to show them the boat. All were excited for the project, but no one came back. It still didn't go at the sale last weekend, so I put the pictures on a local classified site with one picture. I meant to get more and post them this week, but yesterday a gentleman called saying he was looking for just such a project. I had to run over to sister's to clean out the bikes and such they'd thrown in it and avoid the hornets nest. The guy came and looked, but then left again. I thought for sure he had changed his mind, but to the contrary, he returned yesterday afternoon and it is now gone! I just feel so relieved. Wow, that was kind of a dull tale.
Anyway, between moving furniture from hither to yon and back for the garage sale, loading the leftovers for charity, the boat, etc, ... I suppose I have excuse to be a bit tired, but still.
Additional accomplishments: finally got my yard whipped into shape, including a patio which was covered in dirt and weeds when we moved in, not to mention the ones that have grown since I've done nothing to care for it. It's now cleared completely (incuding the biting ants who came out when I got rid of the dirt and pulled the weeds! ouch!) I've planted 2 tomatoes, 3 kinds of squash, and some mint by the front door which will smell nice, grows in full shade, and will be delicious when it sprouts! yay. Nature has helped out by giving us buckets of rain the last few days.
And just as I was thinking today might be relaxing, I got a call from hubby. Our car broke down. We've GOT to get rid of it. We've GOT to get a new car... but alas. That's not even a remote possibility unless he finds NEW JOB. {sigh} I feel like he will NEVER catch a break in the job market.
