snowee: (fuck adulthood)
Oh, it's been a week since my last post!

Saturday...
...night was fun. The person who shall not be named played stand-up comic songs in the car (you know, Adam Sandler, that kind of thing) the whole way to the bar. Now, that's fine, but anyone who knows me knows I don't really like stupid-funny. I have the best of Dr. Demento and all, but I'm not into new stuff. This kind of irked me because every time I want her to hear something, she always has an excuse - so I stopped asking, but here's the thing. Whenever I rec a movie or show or song to her, she loves it. Then she tells me I HAVE to see things that are SO not me I wonder if she's ever met me before.

Needless to say, it took a little while for the cloud to lift, but it did and then I had a great time, despite all the water.

Late Friday we hit the liquor store and spent all our play money for the week. Whoops! But it's been nice to have around.

Sunday...
...Dr. Who with Toria day. Later they were airing The Stand which I've never seen, but back when I was giving Stephen King a chance, I read a little over 1/3 into the book. Lots of people said I MUST see the move. Did some cutting out of Toria's costume and a little cleaning while it was on, but mostly just sat and watched it. Kind of a pathetic waste of time, really. (Actually, I tivo'd it so finished watching it in the evenings while Scott was in school and only just finished it last night. Still a waste of time, though.)

Monday...
...this year we got ALL the grapes from our vines, green & red. Dad came to help and started climbing the fence (because the neighbours had some bunches that called to him). Those who know the history of my dad will understand why I was watching him nervously... and didn't notice that my finger was in the way as I snipped a vine with my scissors. Yeah. When the blood started to soak my jacket I decided to leave Dad and take care of it. No, he didn't fall, but why scare me? THEY'RE JUST GRAPES!

Tuesday...
...took the buckets to Mom's and made juice. Took all day to stem them, steam them, etc. Brought home 15 quarts, have 8 left from last year, and there are apparently 12 more of mine at Mom's. They did their own grapes yesterday (and the rest today. Their 4 or 5 vines are much more abundant than my two little vines.)

Wednesday...
...finished the rewrite of my book. I'm still kind of bothered that I got so excited to send out queries before. I didn't have the perspective to see what needed to be done. I think it's better now. I also wrote what I think is a better query letter which, let's face it, is the only way I'll get them to even want to see a synopsis let alone the ms. Now on to the synopsis. It's meant to be a sample of my writing, gripping, marketable, quirky... it has more jobs than one can squeeze into 3-5 pages! Have two starts for this, but I don't think either is particularly stellar so back to the drawing board.

Also, started a short story, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I'm still being a cred-whore; anything for a credential.

future...
We found out our friend "kind of" knows how to make wine. I got a fab webpage last year from [livejournal.com profile] jenniepanic, but I think I'd really like some personal assistance. So, don't tell my mom. (jk). I'm turning a few jars into jelly, leaving a few as juice, and am hoping to make the rest into wine.
