At family dinner last night, my bro's gf, T, tells us about this account. The name is spelled La-a. How do you reckon this is pronounced? Lay-a? Lah-ah? No. It's Ladasha. La dash' a. Yeah, really! Well, then niece, H pipes in and says "See! I told you!" to her sister B. She knew a Le-a. The sick part is I remember H telling us about that Ledasha a few months ago.

So we have a good laugh. Meanwhile B and her husband, J, talk in confidence for a second, then start the ball rolling by saying that they're going to name their first kid ":" (It just so happens their last name is Powell, so, colon powell?) My sister J jumps in with "What will you name the second? Semi-colon?"

B: "How about Asterisk? That would be awesome! Of course it would suck when they went to be put into one of those systems where they won't let you use symbols..."

K: "And people would probably just call them 'star' because they don't know what an asterisk is."

B: "But it opens up a new world of names! Pound! Ampersand!"

Hmm, who was sitting right next to T? Because I think it was that person who suggested replacing parts of names with numbers... like when people write L8R.

On the way home, Scott reminded me of his aunt Nina. No, not neena. It's pronounced 9a. So there's the first number name.

Oh, the possibilities!!
