January's big thing
So here we are at the 16th day of February and I haven't even updated on the BIG THING I did in January (per my "I'm going to do at least one awesome thing a month!" promise)

I managed to do 3 very cool things in January. I started wearing hats (okay, one hat that I have worn several times and a second that doesn't really match my clothes so will wear later), I got my hair cut and colored VERY cute, and I bought a car. A whole car. Wrote out the largest check I have ever written in my life. Blankteen thousand dollars somehundred something dollars and six cents.

I really wanted to ask the bank for a briefcase full of cash to take to the dealership. I should have done it, too, but I was told they would not give that much cash - would insist on giving me a bank check. I should have asked anyway for the amusement factor. Instead I opted to write a personal check on one of my classic games checks... I believe it was the one with the body from Operation in the background. It felt gooood. Not to be skipped, either, is the fact that the car I bought is on my list of dream cars and is, in fact, one of the only 2 in my top 10 that is still in production (although I'm over the Jeep now)

I will post a proper picture of my actual car and my hair and such, but I have yet been able to get anyone to take pics of us together. I did take one of myself that is... kind of cute and one of the car sitting in the garage so I think I will post those soon if I can't get anyone to take pics.

February's big thing
I plan to do more, but I have officially started something with my daughter that I never did with my mother (or anyone, really) and which is a really girlie thing (impractical - something I typically avoid because it's... not practical). Yesterday I had a girl's day with Jane. We went to the salon and got our hair styled, then I took her to lunch at a nice restaurant where we talked and had delicious food. Afterwards I took her shopping and just let her look at what she wanted without dragging her around to my stuff as well. In the end I bought her 2 dresses; one for Easter and one for her birthday as well as a pair of shoes. It was a big splurge, but the point is I think I want to start taking her every few months to get her hair done or maybe nails so we can have girl time. I am realizing that Mom basically taught us that it is not worth treating ourselves ever because it's a waste of money, impractical, vain, etc. Not that I want to encourage vanity, but at the same time, why can't we just treat ourselves to a day at the spa just because we want to feel good for one day?

Well, anyway, that could start a whole new topic...
