Aug. 31st, 2009 09:46 amIt's official. Everyone is on facebook.
Okay. Not really, but my niece and sister felt it necessary to set one up for my mom. My mom? No, no, no. It's not that "old ladies" can't be there, or "moms" or anything else. It's MY mom. She's a little tech savvy, but not exactly desperate for online socialization. They're planning to teach her how to use it. Fine, but she's super practical, doesn't share things about herself, and doesn't believe in the frivolous. Can you see why this isn't the place for her? I suspect they won't have the discretion NOT to send invitations for all the dumb games, either, and Mom's computer is so outdated I don't think it will take it for long before it crashes.
It's like these people do not grasp the concept of perspective. They think everyone should (and wants to) do everything they do, the way they do it... etc, etc. Come on. I don't recommend my alternative lifestyle literature to the conservative members of my family for a reason. I recommend things similar to what they've liked before or based on THEIR personality, not just on what I like.
It's a pet peeve of mine. It seems like most people think this way some of the time, doesn't it?
