I didn't realize it, but I guess one of the main points of contention with hubby was school. He took out serious student loans to pay for a tech school. I told him from day 1 that an associate's from there wouldn't do much on on its own, but it would be a great stepping stone to a bachelor's (and hopefully a master's) and then I felt confident he'd get promoted or offered better jobs - able to pay back the loans.
Well, he went, saying that was his intention. I juggled so many more things at home so that he could focus on school and work and not have another care in the world. It's a lot more complicated than that, but it's hard to explain. Anyway, he finished and applied for a few jobs (a very few over the last six months) and then he put off looking into a school for his bachelor's ... and put it off and off... until this month when the student loans came due and with the same money he's been making we're supposed to pay the first payment? Yeah, I was furious. I mean, I did a lot to make it happen for him, I tried to keep him grounded and support his decisions, but those payments... it's crunch time.
Well, yesterday he FINALLY went and registered for another school. Since then I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. He's got an appointment to set up financial aid and defer payments, but it made me realize I was really pissed that he spent that much money on school which we will have to pay off knowing there was a good chance it wouldn't get him anywhere.
Amazing what a little thing can do...
